Don’t Let a Small Chip Fail Your WOF
At Glen Park Motors, our certified mechanics can now repair windscreen chips in-house for just $130. If your vehicle fails its Warrant of Fitness (WOF) because of a chip or crack, we’ll fix it quickly, affordably, and in full compliance with NZ Standards.
How to Know if Your Windscreen Damage Can Be Repaired
We use industry-standard assessment tools to measure chips and cracks. Here’s how it works:
1. Critical Vision Area (directly in front of the driver)
- Chips and cracks smaller than 25mm can usually be repaired.
- If the damage is 25mm or larger, a full windscreen replacement is required.
2. Primary Vision Area (the rest of the windscreen)
- Chips and cracks smaller than 30mm can usually be repaired.
- If the damage is 30mm or larger, the windscreen must be replaced.
Types of Windscreen Damage We Can Repair
Common repairable chip shapes include:
- Bullseye (round circular chip) – up to 20mm
- Star cracks – up to 30mm
- Horseshoe chips – up to 25mm
- Small combination cracks – assessed case by case
